Kde domov můj? : Dilemata dlouhodobého antropologického výzkumu

Where is my home? : Dilemmas of longitudinal anthropological fieldwork
The text discusses ethical issues related to an anthropological fieldwork designed as a family stay of 2 years. Just like the research site itself, also the position of the researcher in the community is of a paradoxical nature. The dilemmas of Longyearbyen that influence life and work of the author include ecological unsustainability, economic uneveness, the geopolitical game of nationalism, social inequality and vulnerability of politically invisible segments of population. Explaining the local context of her endeavour, the author identifies challenging ethical aspects of her research but also activism tackling segregation based on language (in)competence. Since the research project is still running and the analysis of the data has not yet been completed, the article highlights problems that will need to be handled and included in the interpretation of the data collected, inviting the readership to engage and hoping for a debate.
