Acknowledgement

The journal Biograf keeps alive only thanks to an enormous amount of volunteer work. The main financial source is provided by subscribers and private donators. It is very complicated to raise some more money for such a journal in the Czech Republic by means of grant applications and other public sources. The more we are pleased to make acknowledgements to institutions, programmes and companies that have in some way or other supported our effort.

Grants:

The translation programme of Biograf in 2002-2006 is being supported within the Allia project by the Foundation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris, The Council of American Overseas Research Centers in Washington, D.C., and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York. The same institution kindly supports the reconstruction of the website of Biograf and completion of its online archive in 2003-4.

Collaboration and partnership:

Center for Theoretical study, The Institute for Advanced Studies at Charles University Prague and Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
Since the end of 2004 has been kindly providing us for free some physical space for a minimised editorial office of Biograf. We could hardly keep living without such a nice and kind support.

We benefit from kind support and partnership of the international on-line journal for qualitative research Forum: Qualitative Research, available at http://qualitative-research.net/fqs/fqs-eng.htm, and especially of Katja Mruck, its editor. We have published a number of Czech or Slovak translations of articles published originally in FQS.

The web site of the on-line journal The Qualitative Report available at http://www.nova.edu/ssss/QR/ had mentioned our journal even before we finally prepared the English interface of Biograf. Many thanks to the editor Ronald Chenail for this kind promotion!

In 1996-2005, Network Media Service, s.r.o. provided completely free web hosting services for our web page, domain and mail server administration and technical support. Thanks!

In 2003-1004, CEFRES, the French centre for social science research in Prague, financially supported several translations from French, e.g., within the collaboration on the seminar series "Sociological confrontations".
