Jeannette Pols is full professor ‘Anthropology of Everyday Ethics in Health Care’ at the department of Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam and the department of Ethics, Law & Humanities of the University Medical Center in Amsterdam. She works with the section of Medical Ethics at the University Medical Centre in Amsterdam. Her research and teaching is at the crossroads of the humanities and the social sciences signified by the term empirical ethics or anthropology of everyday ethics. With this approach she studies how ‘the good’ emerges in different forms in care practices, in particular in relation to the introduction of new technologies. With the same approach she studies questions of epistemology and everyday ethics in scientific practices.
